From: psukeoekusp@outlook.com              i know that matt garvey did notes for this last year in november, but,       since i haven't seen this episode yet, i'll give my thoughts about it       before the super bowl episode.              starting off, i liked a couple of the act one jokes. a few of the car-go       jokes were pretty good, including the whimsy of it's offices reminding       me of stories of the googleplex. as a guy who personally distrusts       google to hell and back for their recent atrocities, these jokes hit       home in a way. i also like how homer isn't as much as a jerkass as he       was in the past and has *mainly* gone back to his old self. it's a       relaxing change of pace, to be honest.              the a-story is that homer joins generic tech startup #83 (car-go), and       actually excells on his job! turns out, however, that the company's       tracking their data and is using it to advertise to them (sounds       familiar?), so homer sues them for privacy invasion. mr burns is also in       the episode, but doesn't really come into the story until act three,       where homer, smithers, and burns stops the cars, ruining the company. a       basic 'homer's new job' story, but a mildly fun one and one that is       deeply rooted in the current tech environment, where every piece of       tech's eavesdropping on the consumer, like privacy doesn't exist anymore.              it's nothing as well crafted as the golden era, but it's a cool little       bit of satire about the infidelity of tech nowadays.              6.5 / 10       it aight              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
