From: garvey@simpsonsarchive.com              Oof. I thought the Robert Reich episode (UABF14, season 33 closer) was a       clunky way to do a current-events message, but this was ROUGH. And I fully       agree with the sentiments in both of them, worry about the slippery slope,       know the messages need to get        out there... it just wasn't very good, AND it took the completely bonkers       route modern Simpsons tends to keep falling into. (Also, "critical brace       theory", really? What a shaggy dog!) Is subtlety dead, or is the idea that it       just won't work? Still, give        me Lisa the Iconoclast any day.                     Previous episode stuff       9F10, PABF14: the gazebo disaster is compared to Springfield's other great       disasters, the monorail and Lady Gaga's visit (the latter of which seems to be       self-aware commentary)       BABF07: qualifying the bank as "the MONEY bank"              Meta       "1986: I was 2 years old then! Or was I 30?"       Kirk's conspiracy theory that Moleman is a "crisis actor" because the bad       stuff usually seems to happen to him       One of Homer's customizable shirts near the end says "annoyed grunt"              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
