From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              OK episode. Didn't blow me off my feet, but in the combined category of       questionable sudden revelations of characters' pasts and somewhat       compelling social commentary that excuses some oddness, it seems to work       all right. Not profound - not biting - but perhaps an important jab at       things in the show's classic style. But was Quimby ever established as a       Junior before??              I do see the credits have returned to full size, so that really does       suggest something non-canonical about last week. And kudos to whoever       got the correctly-facing apostrophes before the abbreviated years (but       "80's" ugh).              Previous episode stuff (political version, I guess)       7F19: Bart runs for office at school and so on, and Martin manages to       win (this time out of nowhere)       3F08: Act II of this episode starts with another parody of the "Daisy" ad       2F02: All the President's Men LOC overhead shot                     Another mystery to solve       The 7:30 rerun of last season's "Bottle Episode" (36ABF04) was,       predictably, missing the premiere's dedication to writer Billy Wright,       but less predictably it was a little longer on balance. Specifically,       act 2 was 4 seconds longer tonight (bringing the runtime up to still a       few seconds below the usual 21.5 minute max), and it'll be a little time       before I can directly compare the two airings. Could this be another       case where something was dropped from the premiere because of current       events and reinstated later? (Could the longer version already have been       on streaming/on-demand and well known to everyone but me?) Or was it       just time-compressed a little bit for some reason, or...              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
