   There was a movement afoot, maybe a decade ago, on college campuses, to   
   outlaw certain words entirely (this is actually TV related because I saw   
   it on a talk show -- maybe Donahue? I know the host was such an idiot he   
   thought it was a good idea).  It would have been TOTAL zero tolerance.   
   NO use of the words, by anyone, for ANY reason, would be tolerated.   
      
   Of course they hadn't thought this through.  If NO use is allowed, how   
   do you tell people what not to say in the first place?  How do you   
   report them?  How do you punish them?  One imagines handbooks and   
   tribunals referring obliquely to the offending terms . . .
