   FYI, Maude died because the actress who played her quit the series. Perhaps the   
   writers considered Ned and Maude getting divorced, but that would have been too   
   out-of-character for such a happily married couple. Maybe having her killed by   
   a   
   T-shirt was the most logical way to write her out of the series.

   I love the Simpsons TV series as much as anyone, but Maude was only a fictional   
   cartoon character. You ought to focus more attention on easily preventable   
   real-life deaths, such as those in Iraq, New Orleans, and Virginia Tech.
