   I've lived with cats for close to 40 years.  My first experience was   
   when I lived in Amsterdam.  My Dutch girlfriend had two cats when I   
   moved in.  I really enjoyed them and when I came back to the US I got   
   two as soon as I settled down.  My first wife had three cats, so when   
   I moved in with her we had five.  A couple died along he way, but when   
   we split up I took one of my original cats and a new one as well.  My   
   second wife had two cats so when we moved in together we had four.   
   Since then, two have died.   
      
   Not once in all these years did I ever lock my door to prevent any of   
   my cats from smothering me in my sleep.  If one of them is planning my   
   demise, they're certainly taking their time about it.
