Bloody hell. Haven't we just spent a fortnight talking about Star
   Trek Alternate Timelines?

In TOS there is the venerable, founding Gene Roddenberry timeline. The
Robert Bloch timeline, the Gene Coon timeline, the Harlan Ellison
timeline, the DC Fontana timeline, the Theodore Sturgeon timeline, the
Norman Spinrad timeline and perhaps thirty others. It's a truism of
the multiverse that what happens in one universe doesn't necessarily
   happen in its parallels.
