   The number of successful defensive gun uses (DGUs) in America per year ranges   
   anywhere between 70,000 to 500,000, depending on the study, definitions, and   
   methodology (e.g., whether the gun is fired, brandished, or merely possessed),   
   but even just taking the low end, your claim doesn't hold water.   
      
   Even the rabidly anti-gun organization "Everytown for Gun Safety" had to admit   
   in 2025, after analyzing the 2019–2023 NCVS data, that there are at least   
   70,000 legitimate DGUs annually. If there are 30 dead people for every one of   
   those 70,000, that would mean almost a quarter million people are dying every   
   year trying to defend themselves with a gun.   
      
   That... isn't credible.
