   I don't think she could have known it for a fact. I think we were   
   supposed to understand that she knew him very well, and that she knew   
   he would have somehow managed to survive down there for all that time,   
   despite everything. Remember, she had come to hate him. I think her   
   expression says that she thinks he's getting exactly what he deserves.   
      
   There was no reason for her to tell anyone. I doubt anyone would have   
   listened to her if she'd said "I think my husband's alive in there   
   somewhere." She had no proof.
