From: colbysgurl@shaw.ca              Authors: Sassy and Jacquie                            Summary: A post episode fic for "Drive." Mulder and Scully are suspended.                            Genre: MSR Romance                            Rating: M                                                        No," Mulder said simply. "Not till we talk about this."              "Maybe we should walk and talk." Scully suggested as she glanced around to       see other FBI agents coming out of the Federal Building behind them.              Mulder sighed softly. "Never mind. Let's just eat."              "Mulder, I want to talk about this too." Scully took his hand. "I just want       to do it someplace where we won't be interrupted.              "It feels like every time I try to be serious, you always make it sound like       I'm joking." Mulder didn't even bother looking in her direction. As much as       it hurt, Scully knew what he was saying was true. She walked along beside       him in silence for a while.              "Maybe I'm just afraid..." she finally said, so soft he could hardly hear       her.              Mulder frowned. "Of me?"              "Of the fact that I'm falling in love with you and there's nothing I can do       about it." She didn't want to look at him either.              "Then why do you doubt my feelings for you? I've tried to show you over and       over...how I feel," Mulder trailed off.              "Because something or someone always gets in the way." Scully's hand       hesitantly reached for his.              She didn't get a response at first when she touched his hand so she pulled       away. She didn't blame him for being mad at her. "I'm sorry, Mulder..."       Scully said with pleading in her voice.              Mulder took her hand in his hands. "I...I've always been right here,       Scully."              "I know," she whispered. She was thinking of several times during their       years together when she woke up in a hospital bed and he was there.              "Let me love you. I can make you happy." He met her eyes and held her gaze.       "Or I'll die trying."              She wasn't thinking about what passers by might think this time as she       hugged him around the waist.              "Please," he pleaded in a whisper.              Scully gently pulled his head down to hers, testing the waters.              His hands were in her hair. He pushed her lips apart with his tongue. He       melded her against him.              She was breathless when the kiss finally broke. She whispered in his ear,       "Everything's going to be alright, I promise. I love you."              "I love you too," he whispered breathlessly.              "Do you still want to go to the restaurant?" she whispered, not wanting to       leave his embrace.              "You're done for the day, right?" He leaned his head against hers and met       her eyes.              "I'm done for the day."              "Can we go back to your place?" He stroked her cheek gently.              "We can...I have something for you." Scully allowed her hand to stroke       Mulder's cheek.              "For me?" he asked softly.              "For you..." Scully kissed his chin.              Mulder smiled. "What is it?"              "I just thought you might need another cell phone."              "That I do." He kissed her forehead. "Do you need to go back inside for       anything before we head home?"              "Just need you, Mulder." Scully's response was soft, honest.              Mulder nodded and took her hand. He led her to his parked car a few blocks       up. Opening the door for her, he smiled. "Ma'am."       Scully gave his hand a squeeze before getting into the passenger side. He       closed her door and hurried around to the driver's side. Getting in, he said       quickly, "Call the Thai place. We'll get it to go." Scully obediently began       to dial her phone.              It'll be about ten minutes," she said when she finally got off.              "We can stop at the gas station. I need some more sunflower seeds anyway."       Mulder reached over and took her hand.              "I'll get the iced tea," Scully said without thinking.              "I was thinking root beer." Mulder smiled over ant her and gave her hand a       squeeze. He was rewarded with a chuckle.              "Okay...you get the seeds, I'll get the root beer," Scully teased.              Mulder kept his hands in hers as he drove to the 7-11. He parked. "By the       time we get done in here, our food should be done."              Scully headed for the iced tea. She met Mulder at the cash register.              "Did you want or need anything else?"              "Nope." She stuck a ten dollar bill on the counter for the iced tea. "Keep       the change," she told the man behind the cash register. Then she waited for       Mulder.              Mulder paid for his seeds. He followed her out. "I was going to get that."              Scully smiled at him. "It was my pleasure. Besides you've paid for things       lots of times.              Mulder shook his head. "Things are different."              "Different how?" Scully knew what he meant, but she needed to hear it from       him directly.              "You love me. I love you." He kissed her cheek and opened her door.              As promised their food was waiting for them when they got to the restaurant.       Scully smelled the aromas appreciatively. Mulder liked that she liked places       like these.              "Beats that greasy junk I'm used to eating."              "One of the many reasons why I'm here...to give you a little variety." She       gave his hand a brief, but loving squeeze.              Mulder smirked. "Well don't stop now."              There was something curious behind Scully's eyes...like a gleam of       mischief...like she had something more interesting in mind for him.              Mulder pulled in at the video store. "Do you mind if we get a movie or two?"              "You can get whatever you want...you deserve it," Scully said softly.              Mulder shook his head. "You are picking them out." He pointed across the       street. "I'm running over there for something."              "O...kay..." Scully said slowly wondering what he was he was up to. He       opened the door to the video store and went in. Despite Mulder's insistence,       she picked movies she knew he would like: "The Invisible Man" and "Men in       Black."              Mulder was closing the trunk when she came out. He smiled at her. "Just in       time."              "Do I really want to know what you're up to?" She arched an eyebrow at him.              "All in good time..." He moved to her door and opened it. "What did you       get?"              "You know...movies." She smiled at him as she got into the passenger seat       again. "Sci fi."              Mulder bent down and tilted her head. "I would've watched 'Casablanca'...or       whatever chick flick you wanted to watch."              Scully hesitated, but only for a moment, before planting a brief but warm       kiss on his lips. "Wasn't really in a chick flick kind of mood," she said       softly.              Mulder kissed her again, deeper this time. "Well then...that's a horse of a       different color." Scully wanted to do more. She didn't care that they were       out in public. But then she managed to stop herself with the thought that       maybe Mulder didn't want to. Her only response was a smile.              Mulder let the silence linger for a while. He glanced at her. "Something       wrong, Scully?"              No. Why?" She turned from the window to meet his eyes.              "You're being quiet..." Mulder reached over and took her hand.              "I'm fine, Mulder..." Scully reassured him quietly. "I'm just trying to       remember the last time we were together like this and it didn't involve       work." And I really wish just once you'd call me by my first name...but       that's asking for too much, isn't it?                     [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
