From: colbysgurl@shaw.ca              Authors: Sassy and Jacquie                     Category: MSR Romance                            Summary: a post episode for "Post Modern Prometheus"                            Rating: eventually M                                          XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX                            Mulder smiled down at her as they swayed to the music. The smile that       radiated from her face was one he hadn't seen in a long time. "Glad to see       you feeling better, Scully" The days that she had been sick were hard on       him.              "Me too," Scully said softly.              They returned to their seats and watched the rest of the concert. They were       climbing into their rental car an hour later. "So Scully, how about we stay       another night? Our flight is for 10 tomorrow morning."              Scully felt her stomach in her throat. "Sure."              Mulder ran his hand through his hair as he started the car. "Some night,       huh?"              "Yeah...some night," Scully agreed, trailing off in thought. She dared not       hope that something was starting to change between the two of them. She had       had a lot of time to think when she was ill. She sighed and made herself       smile. "You hungry at all?"              "I could eat," said Mulder, popping a sunflower seed into his mouth.              "Anything in particular you want to get? I promise I won't nag if you say       cheeseburgers or pizza." A small grin touched the corners of her lips.              'You...' He shook his head." Anything you want is fine with me. I'd be happy       getting a sandwich and watching a movie at the hotel...so long as you don't       mind that I drink a beer or two...and I'll even leave the door open if that       makes you more comfortable."              "All I want is to spend time with you. I don't care if the door is closed."       Scully reached over and gently touched Mulder's hand, hoping she wasn't       making a mistake.              Mulder didn't move his hand. He liked the feel of her hand against his. He       remembered back when she was in the hospital and she hadn't wanted to let       his hand go. Now he moved to entwine his fingers with hers. "So Subway or       Quiznos?"              "Subway." Scully swallowed a lump in her throat. "I like lots of vegetables       on my subs," she forced herself to add.              Mulder knew just how she took her sandwich. "I'll go in and order while you       sit in the car."              "I can come with you."              "Okay...just thought you were tired. You're quiet tonight." He stroked her       palm with his thumb.              "Just thinking about how nice it is to be here," she said softly, knowing he       would be upset.              "I'm sorry I drag you out all the time...that you don't have time for       yourself."              "No, Mulder..." Scully stopped him and looked him in the eyes.              Then he realized she meant it was good to be alive. That she had survived       her cancer. He kissed her hand. He was at a loss. His heart screamed words       at him to say to her, but his mouth wouldn't cooperate. "Me too."              Scully wanted to take him in her arms right there...but they were in a       public place. So, instead, she had to be content with a brief hand squeeze       before letting go. Mulder pulled her closer and wrapped his arm around her       waist. He opened the door to Subway for her. Scully was slightly surprised       at his gesture, needless to say. However, she realized he needed to be near       her so she didn't pull away from him.              "Ladies first," Mulder whispered in her ear.              Thank you," she said softly back.              Mulder smiled back. "White or whole wheat?"              "Whole wheat."              Mulder approached the counter. "Veggie Delight, foot long on whole wheat       please."              "You're not getting anything?"              Then it dawned on her. They were sharing.              Mulder smiled at her. "My mom taught me out to share."              Scully blushed a little and fell silent. If Mulder hadn't picked up on the       fact that she was acting like a giddy school girl by now, it was amazing,       she thought. On the other hand...it was Mulder. He did know her. He'd be       able to tell something was amiss.              "What's gotten into you?" Mulder asked as they were walking out. "Not that       I'm complaining. I like it."              "Good" was all she said. "You want beer at the hotel, right?" She didn't       feel completely comfortable telling him what was on her mind right there       where other people could hear her.              When they got in the car, she leaned over a little and said a bit       uncertainly "I have something to tell you when we get back to your hotel       room."              "Okay." Mulder picked up her hand and slid it into his. He thought he felt a       shiver. He stopped at a gas station and picked up a six pack of beer. Then       they were at the hotel. "My room or yours?"              "Yours," Scully said without thinking about it.              "Then get those little legs a moving" Mulder teased as he opened the door       and held it open for her. Scully stuck her tongue out at him.                            "That's dangerous, Agent Scully", Mulder whispered as she brushed past him       to enter the room. Scully closed her eyes as another shiver went down her       spine.              Mulder laid out their sandwiches and opened two bottles of beer. "What did       you want to tell me?"              "I've...had the opportunity to do a lot of thinking lately," Scully started       softly. Mulder leaned back against the table and waited for her to continue.       "I think I'm falling in love with you, Mulder..." she rattled off.              Mulder's eyes locked on hers. "Bout time you caught up."              "Caught up?"              "Want to know when I realized I was in love with you?"              "When?" she asked gently.              "When I thought I'd lost you."              Scully threw caution to the wind and put her arms around Mulder's body. He'd       held her like this before. Back when she was the sickest. Only this time       instead of kissing her forehead, he took a chance and let his lips brush       hers.              A soft moan escaped her throat as she kissed him back. His hand tangled in       her hair as he deepened it. Scully sank into him as a tear managed to escape       her eyelids and fall down her cheek.              Mulder wiped it away with his thumb. "None of that."              'Think about him...he needs you,' she told herself.              "How about we eat?" Mulder whispered with his forehead pressed against hers.              'Right...food.' Scully tried to make herself smile as she agreed. She was       reluctant to let Mulder go, but it was what he wanted, she argued.              Mulder caught her waist and drew her back to him. "Don't overanalyze." He       kissed her lips softly.              "I'm a scientist," she smiled faintly. "That's what I do." She sighed and       caressed his forearm.              Mulder smiled at her. He grabbed the sandwiches and beer. "Which bed?"              Scully picked the bed closest to the TV and the door. Mulder sat the beer on       the bedside table and the sandwiches on the bed. He pulled off his jacket       and tie. "Mind if I take off my shirt?"              Scully almost choked on her beer. "Of course not," she managed to stammer.              Mulder undid the buttons and pulled off his shirt quickly." I hate wearing       that damn suit all the time."              "You never did like going by the book." Scully smiled softly at him before       turning back to the TV and taking a bite of her sub.              Mulder settled back against the headboard and took a long pull on his beer.       "Indeed I don't."              Scully watched him for a moment as he began watching a Knicks game on TV.              [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
