From: colbysgurl@shaw.ca              Authors: Sassy and Jacquie                            Category: MSR Romance                            Summary: A post episode fic for "Firewalker"                            XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX                            Two days later, Mulder opened his eyes to find he had a pounding       headache....and Scully sleeping with her head on his hand.              "Hey..." he managed to whisper.              Scully slowly lifted her head, blinking the sleep out of her eyes. "Hey,"       she smiled back.              "How did I get here?" he coughed.              "You walked in a storm, Mulder." Scully tried to sound stern, but relief       crept into her voice.              "Hey...I'm sick...play nice." He gave her his famous Mulder smile.              "All I'm saying is if you ever scare me like that again, I'll kick your       ass."              Mulder moved his hand to touch her face. "That I don't doubt." He coughed       again.              Scully reached beside her for a glass of water, which she tilted to his       lips. "Here. Drink slow."              Mulder listened to her voice. It was the only thing that kept him from       slipping back into unconsciousness. His face seemed to flicker in       realization of what she had said.              "I'm not going anywhere, Scully. It would take more than a little snow to       rid you of me."              Scully gently hugged him. He held on to her. "Hey...baby girl...what's       this?" he said as his mind began to clear. She was sobbing into his chest.       Scully couldn't speak for a moment, only sob and hold him a little tighter.       After a moment, she was able to lift her tear-stained face. He stroked her       cheek. "Please don't cry."              She took in a shaky breath. "That kiss...that was real," she whispered.              Mulder kissed her forehead. "Why'd you run, Scully?"              "Got scared."              Of me?" Mulder had to lay back. He felt dizzy.              "No...never of you," she smiled, soothing him with her hand. "Of my       feelings...of the thought that we were crossing the line."              "I respect you if you don't want to cross that line," Mulder whispered.              "That's the thing...I'd be miserable without you." She tried to smile as her       heart slammed against her chest.              "I have a one track mind when it comes to you."              "Guess I'm not the only one then, huh?"              "Nope." He touched her hair. "Have you slept much?"              "Not really," Scully admitted.              "You should sleep, Scully," Mulder said softly, always needing to take care       of her.              "I will if you will."              "I think I could sleep for a year..."              Scully softly kissed his forehead, wishing just once that he would call her       'Dana'.              "Dana..." he whispered, his fingers locked around hers when he thought she       was leaving him.              "It's okay, Mulder. I'm not going anywhere." She pushed the second hospital       bed against the bed Mulder was laying on so they were completely close       together, forming a double bed.              "You sure that's allowed?" Mulder teased as he turned over slowly to face       her.              "No...but I don't care."              "Breaking rules. I should've walked half naked in a snow storm before now."              "Mulder, that's not funny."              He kicked himself when he saw fresh tears pooling in her eyes. "I'm sorry. I       was just trying...I'm sorry."              "Don't mind me...exhaustion," she murmured as she wiped tears off her face.       "Go to sleep."              "Mmmkay." He closed his eyes. Opening them slowly again, he reached for her.              "It's okay," Scully whispered as she carefully settled into Mulder's arms.              "One day I hope it won't take beer to make you kiss me the way you did."              "Sssh...it's alright," she whispered, stroking his arm.              "Night..."              She softly kissed his lips.              "Don't go away..."              "I'm not," Scully promised softly.              An hour later though, she had to get up due to nature calling. When she       returned, Mulder was already feeling the bed next to him. He found her as       she slipped into the bed.              He pulled her against him. "There you are.              "I'm still here," she whispered.              Mulder sighed in his sleep. "I love you," he murmured.       Scully kissed his hair. "How's your friend?" he asked, waking up slightly,       remembering why she'd come to NY in the first place.              "She went home yesterday. She's doing a lot better."              Scully knew it was bad, but she didn't want to think about Holly.              "That's good." There was a beat, and then "I want to go home."              "Tomorrow," Scully promised. "The doctor just wants to keep you one more       night to make sure you're going to be fine."              "I am fine..."              "We have to make sure of that." What she really meant was '*I* have to make       sure of that'.              Mulder could see it in her eyes. He stroked her cheek, "I missed being with       you."              "I missed you too," Scully whispered.              "Dana..." Mulder bit his lip. He needed to tell her about what had happened       when she was missing.              "What?" She held his hand. "Mulder...you can tell me anything."              "When you were...when you were missing...something happened." He turned away       from her, ashamed.              "What?" she gently prompted.              "I slept with someone. I wanted it to be you...I needed it to be you."              Scully was silent for a moment as she digested this information. She was hit       with the reminder that she had done the same thing on a couple of occasions,       so she really couldn't be upset with Mulder.       She held him.              He took her face in his hands. "I never thought I'd see you again..." He       lowered his mouth to hers for a tender kiss. "Never thought you'd love me       too."              The kiss left Scully breathless. She slowly opened her eyes as she whispered       back, "I do love you."              "Do you forgive me?"              "Mulder, there's nothing to forgive." She caressed his cheek.              "Good, because I don't know what I'd do if I ever hurt you." He buried his       head into her neck.              "I have been jealous though," Scully whispered.              His head snapped up. "Jealous? Of who?"              "All of them. Especially Phoebe."              Mulder shuddered.              Scully sighed as she kissed his forehead.              "Only you," he murmured.              "I'm learning that," she whispered back. Scully sighed softly as she rested       her head against Mulder's shoulder. "Rest," she whispered as her hand       touched his cheek.              "I can't," Mulder whispered back.              "What's wrong?"              "Afraid to close my eyes...afraid you'll be gone."              "What can I do to help?" Scully whispered, caressing him gently.              He laid his head back. "I don't know."              Scully thought for a moment before sitting up and removing her shirt. Her       warm skin touched his, making her breathe in sharply and shiver.              Mulder looked frightened for a second. "What are you doing?"              "It's okay, Mulder," she gently wrapped his arms around her. "I'm just going       to hold you."              Mulder laid his head on her chest and listened to her heart. "What if       someone comes in?"              "Door's locked. They can't." Scully didn't care that it was a bad thing to       do.              Mulder held her tighter. "When I thought I'd lost you...I didn't know where       to turn, Scully..."              "Sssh.... I know," she whispered, kissing his hair.              "Please...I need to talk. I need to tell you."              "Okay..." Scully felt silent.              Mulder looked up at her, his lip quivering. "It was like Samantha all over       again...except you are my heart and I felt like it was being ripped       away...away forever."                     [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
