From: fallonrose@gmail.com              TITLE: Watching You       AUTHOR: Sugarbullet       E-MAIL: sugarbullet@mail.com       DISTRIBUTION: Anywhere              RATING: PG       CATEGORIES: Series       KEYWORDS: Mulder/Scully       SPOILERS: none              SUMMARY: Things have changed                     Dana Scully walked into her apartment, tossing her car keys onto the table       beside where her classic-looking telephone resided. Just as she was about to       turn away, she spotted a small, dusty scrap of yellow paper underneath a book       on the table.       *Scully POV*       “Hmm, what the hell,” she thought, dropping her purse on the couch and       carefully examining the piece of paper. It read:       Call me, it’s important. -Mulder              Although it wouldn’t be totally unlike her partner to leave her a note, she       could swear that he was on vacation at Martha’s Vineyard to visit his       mother. To be honest, Teena Mulder gave Scully the heebie jeebies, but she       knew she was Mulder’s mom        and he obviously loved her despite her shortcomings. But, since the note had       been left, she called her partner. On the third ring, he answered.       “Hey, Scully. What’s up?” he asked.       “Oh, nothing much. I just got home from filling out some case reports. Hey,       um, I didn’t want to bother you, but did you leave me a note?”       “What kind of note?” he questioned teasingly, his voice filled with the       usual brand of innuendo.       “You sound surprised that I’m asking.”       He laughed then went on, “Well, Scully, I may be your secret admirer but I       did not leave you a note.”       “Yes you did,” she replied, chuckling lightly. Then, she stopped laughing.       Mulder wouldn’t lie to her, which meant someone else had beeen in her       apartment.       “Wait,” Mulder began, “You’re….serious.”       Scully paused. She was scared but she certainly didn’t want to worry him,       especially while he was on vacation. “Look, Mulder, all I know is that there       was a note on my desk signed by you, telling me to call you.”       “Call the police, I’m on my way.”       “But, you’re on vacation, and I don’t want to bother you,” she replied.       He sighed. “That doesn’t matter. And besides, I never made it over there.       My mom called and said she has a date today and she didn’t have time for       me.”       “Oh, Mulder. I’m sorry.”       “Don’t be. Just try to stay calm. Actually, get out of your apartment.”       *CSM POV*       Spender laughed to himself as he watched Fox Mulder losing his cool over his       partner that he was obviously in love with. In a way, he was proud of his son,       even if he didn’t acknowledge him as that.       *Mulder POV*       Fox Mulder had been eating a pepperoni pizza and chugging beer to numb another       moment of abandonment by his mother when Scully had called him in a panic.       Now, he didn’t care if he finished eating. He had to get to her.       Putting down his beer bottle and hoping he wasn’t too drunk to drive,       although it wouldn’t matter if he was, Mulder grabbed his coat. Just as he       was about to walk out the door, he noticed that the glass was broken on his       window.       “Great,” he thought. “My apartment’s been broken into too.”       Of course, that didn’t matter either. He was going to get to Scully no       matter what.       So he left.       *CSM POV*       “What a tool,” CSM thought. “Just as I predicted.” By now, he was       parked outside of Agent Scully’s apartment, just as he spotted Mulder’s       car pulling into the driveway. “My job here is almost done, he said under       his breath.       *Scully POV*       Dana Scully was just about to call 9-1-1 when the doorbell rang. She knew       Mulder had told her to call right away, but she figured she’d be able to       handle it on her own, at least for the time being.       After a peephole check revealed her partner standing outside her door, she       figured it was safe to answer.       "Scully?”       “Yes?”       “My apartment was broken into as well. I think that cigarette smoking       bastard is after us again.”       “Why?” she asked, although she already had a faint idea.       “Why does he hate us so much?” she added, “We’re only doing our       jobs.”       Mulder pulled her into his embrace, kissing her forehead. “I don’t       know,” he admitted, “But we’re not going to let him win. Not this       time.”       *CSM POV*       “Perfect,” the smoking man whispered, just as he snapped a photo of the       two agents in what he thought went beyond a professional, platonic hug. “I       can’t wait to show this to the head of the FBI. Once those two are fired,       nobody will ever bother        to be on my trail again.”       He drove off.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
