   You saved my life last night, Mulder. For that, I'm   
   truly grateful. With that act of courage, I will always   
   remember how you looked at me. I could see into your   
   heart. You saved me from a lunatic who was going to   
   kill me by taking my liver.   
      
   Mulder, I know that you didn't trust me when we first   
   met.   
      
   Now I trust you.   
      
   I trust you as my partner and as my closest friend.   
      
   I couldn't say this to you in person. I don't know you   
   very well. I know this is crazy, but I feel close to you. I   
   want to tell you right now, but I can't. It's simply not   
   time for that.   
      
   I'm afraid, Mulder, because I don't want to lose you. I   
   don't want to take this newfound trust and turn it into   
   something more. We're not ready for that. We will   
   know the truth when the day arrives like a brilliant   
   sun up above. We will look into our hearts and then   
   we'll know the truth of our love. I want to tell you now,   
   Mulder, but we have so much to offer to everyone in   
   those files.   
      
   Someday – I will look into your soul and then you'll   
   know the truth in me.   
      
   I'm looking forward to that day; I know that day   
   will come around.   
      
   Until then -- I hope I can draw enough strength   
   to face you.   
      
   You don't know this, Mulder, but you have saved   
   not only me, but our future together. For that, I will   
   always remember this moment.

   Author's Notes:   
      
   This story came immediately out of my freewriting. It's   
   amazing what I'm learning in my creative writing course.   
   I've learned so much about writing in the past several   
   months.   
      
   This story took place in early Season One when Mulder   
   and Scully were both pretty flirtatious and fun. You know,   
   it was time before the conspiracy almost eat them alive. I   
   wanted to touch on the innocence of that period. I wanted   
   to explore Scully's inner feelings during the early days of   
   their relationship. I thought both Mulder and Scully were   
   idealistic before all the bad things happened to them.   
      
   I hope I succeeded. :)   
      
   I would like to thank my beta reader, Jen, for her tremendous
