From: susanf34@comcast.net              *NO ARCHIVE*                            Title: 1: What I Think by William V.       Author: Susan       E-mail: susanf34@comcast.net       Classification: a unique boy's random thoughts       Rating: G       Archive: No archive without permission.       Disclaimer: On paper, this character belongs to       the bigwigs at 1013. In my head, he belongs to me.              Author's notes at the end.              Summary: William gets a new assignment from his       fifth grade teacher.       ************************************************************              What I Think by William V.       by Susan       ~~~~              Assignment 1: What I think about journal writing...                     So, I go to your Language Arts class today thinking       we're going to be doing the usual stuff we do on       Tuesdays, and you tell us that we have to start       keeping a journal of our thoughts and dreams and       other junk like that and that we should write in       it once a day.              Then you tell us that you're going to be doing       a quick check of these journals every day to make       sure we're actually writing in them, and that each       week you'll be giving us a specific topic to write       about.              Do you have any idea how hard that's going to be,       Mr. Branson?              Oh well, at least you gave us a topic for the first       week that's not too bad.              Assignment 1: Write down your thoughts about journal       writing, what the title of your journal is, and why       you decided to give it that particular name.              Since both my parents are always telling me that       I'm a unique thinker, I was going to call my journal       "What I Think", but then that sounded kind of boring       to me so I tried adding my name to it.              That was a little better, but then I remembered       that Will Kelley's also in this class, and I didn't       want you to get our journals mixed up with each       other so I decided on this title instead.               What I Think by William V.              Not only is it a whole lot shorter than writing       Van de Kamp, but I also thought it sounded kind       of professional to have my pen name be William V.              So there you have it. That's the story of how I       came up with my title and what I think about this       assignment.              I know it's not very exciting or clever, but it's       all I could come up for now, and who knows? Maybe       I'll change it to something else later on.              I did notice something interesting when I was       writing just now though. I already used the words       "what I think" without even realizing it.              Hey, maybe I could end every journal entry with       that line, you know, kind of like how some       celebrities have a certain catch-phrase they're       famous for.              So, what do YOU think, Mr. B.?              Do you think it would be a good catch phrase to       use, or do you think it's lame?              I think it sounds pretty cool, and as much as I       hate to admit it to you...writing in this journal       might turn out to be kind of cool too.              I just hope I can find enough things to write       about.              So, what's our next assignment going to be anyway?              I hope it's writing about sports we like because       I can really tell you a lot about basketball and       baseball.              Until next time, that's what I think...                     William V.       March 8, 2011                     End notes: William must be a great student because       he's already been working on more assignments. |
