   ... with great success!  8-)  The sense of time & place in   
   this fic is *fantastic*.  You must have put a lot, a lot,   
   a LOT of research into this.  It isn't just an AU fic,   
   it's a living history lesson!  I am deeply impressed   
   ... as well as being highly entertained.  8-)  Especially   
   by the cliffhangers at the end of each chapter, which are   
   perfectly timed and contain just the right amount of suspense.   
   I also like the background/incidental storylines, like the   
   strike and Ma Mulder being moved by Fox's photos of child   
   workers and the ongoing saga of Byers & his electric starter.   
   (Will he sell out to some big company in Detroit or return   
   to Mulder in New York?  Ahhh, the suspense!)   
      
   And what's happening with Samantha?  And Krycek?  Is there   
   some nice woman out there for poor Dr. Vitigliano?  Holly,   
   maybe?  :-)  (I really like Dr. V. and Shayna and Charlie   
   -- great original characters [Charlie being original in   
   everything but name].  And I like how you worked Max Fenig   
   into the story.)  Oh, and poor Skinner, too -- is there a   
   Kim or a Sharon for him in this universe?  You must keep   
   writing until all of these questions are answered!  :-D   
      
   Oh, and for some reason, I really like the scenes involving   
   food, like Mulder treating Charlie to dinner and Dr. V.   
   taking Scully to his family's restaurant.  No idea why.  ;-)
