From: davideml@bellsouth.net               I watched the movie twice. The first time just to watch it, and then       with the audio       commentary along with the movie with Renee, Helena Beaven (costar) and Dawn       Higginbotham (wrote the       story). The only problem was when all three started talking and laughing it       was hard to understand       what they were saying.        Also in it, briefly, was Ted Raimi, who plays the mean landlord who gives       them 5 days to come       up with the rent (two months past due). He and Renee were also credited with       directing the second       crew (the scenes without Renee or Helena)        (Continuing) Bria (Helena) is a Kiwi who has to show proof of US       citizenship in a week or be       deported. So they leave for Las Vegas. Ashley (Reneé) wants to audition for a       musical called       'Kittens' as a dancer. And Bria is looking for a husband.        I only recognized three people (actually, four) - Reneé, Ted, and a       character actor named Ray       O'Connor (no relation to ROC). He's played gangster parts a lot in movies and       on TV.        When I watched the music video of the making of DaG (behind the scenes), I       recognized Donald       Duncan, the cinematographer who did a lot of the Xena filming (he can be seen       in some of the       interview clips on the XWP DVDs).        My first impression of the movie would be "cute" -- a lightweight       comedy. Entertaining and       worth the time to watch it if you don't expect "Gone with the Wind" (or a       comedy equivalent).        Ashley got food poisoning early on and in the commentary Renée       mentioned the DaG Drinking       Game - you take a drink every time Ashley vomits into the trash can. And there       is the (off       camera-heard but not seen) culmination of a running joke about a bidet.        Renee looked very good, even when she was supposed to be sick with       food poisoning. Her hair       was red. We get to see the famous and still great Gab Abs right at the end       with the feathered       outfit Ashley was auditioning in.        She said they only had one (digital video) camera, so it took a lot of       time to set up the       shots. Donald had to learn to use it since he only used film cameras on Xena       and Herc. And in the       Riviera Casino (where the story takes place), they could only shoot between       midnight and 8 am.        I won't try to synopsysize the entire movie, but will only say that       all's well that ends       well.        At the end of the credits, Reneé thanks the Xenaverse for all their       support.        If you like Reneé (and who doesn't) and don't mind spending $20 for a       decent movie and to       maybe win one of Reneé's paintings, I would recommend ordering the movie.                     --       David       http://geocities.com/daviderl31/GabPics.htm              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
