With so many cast members, it's hard to give anyone new a solid role that
they can work with,
and develop, over the course of just half a season or so. I wonder if Lucy
took the role not only
to play someone different, but because she knew her adoring fans wanted to see
her in ANYTHING!
(And were getting impatient?)

If X:WP had lasted only one season (or as few episodes as Lucy's role
on BSG) we would
probably think it wasn't such a challenge to play the part. If Lucy had been
with BSG from the
beginning, her character would have become as complex as was Starbuck or Adm
Adama or Pres Roslin
or Baltar.

but I didn't care, I just wanted to watch the eps again. But when S3 - 6 came
out with those
extras, I realized just how much I wish they were included on the first two
seasons' sets .
