   4-13  Paradise Found   
      
      
      
             First air date was Feb 1, 1999.   
      
             The story starts out with a thunderstorm. Xena and Gabrielle have   
   taken refuge in a cave.   
   Gabrielle is wearing only furs (letting her clothes dry we assume). Xena has a   
   gash on her upper   
   thigh thanks to thugs who attacked them. Gabrielle is talking about how much   
   Xena smiled during the   
   fighting. Xena keeps coming back with reasons she was smiling. Gabrielle is   
   stitching up Xena's   
   leg. Xena takes over, telling Gabrielle she has hands like a sailor.   
      
              Xena has a flashback of Gabrielle being nailed to the cross.   
   Gabrielle is mouthing 'I   
   love you.' Then Xena is back to reality and Gabrielle tells her she needs to   
   forget it, they make   
   their own destiny.   
      
             They hear a noise farther back in the cave and Gabrielle goes to   
   investigate, telling   
   Xena not to break the stitches. Xena doesn't hear Gabrielle and goes to see   
   where she is. She sees   
   a deep, deep hole, and assuming Gabrielle fell into it, jumps in herself.   
      
             They both wake up in a green garden with birds singing in the trees   
   and an tortoise and a   
   hare meandering around. Xena's leg is healed. They hear someone in the bushes   
   and Xena forces a man   
   named Garr out. After questioning him about where they are, he tells them to   
   go to the house to see   
   Aiden.   
      
             They go in and there are blue statues of men and women in various   
   Yoga poses. Gabrielle   
   is impressed. Aiden tells them they represent ultimate, inner peace. Xena   
   wants to leave But Aiden   
   talks them into staying with offers of food and sleep. Gabrielle asks about a   
   warm bath.   
      
             She and Xena are in a hot tub. Gabrielle is loving it but Xena   
   isn't. Gabrielle asks why   
   she isn't curious about Aiden. Xena says most people can't handle spiritual   
   powers -- Aiden is no   
   Lao Ma. Gabrielle wants to learn his breathing techniques.   
      
             The next day Aiden is teaching Gabrielle to concentrate on her   
   breathing, but warns her   
   it could stir up thoughts and feeling she didn't know she had.   
      
             Xena is in the garden doing Tai Chi exercises. She suddenly gets   
   violent and screams for   
   the birds to shut up.   
      
             As she is doing the breathing exercises, Gabrielle hears herself   
   telling Xena she is   
   sorry, she never meant to lie. And she couldn't kill her (Hope). She then   
   breaks down crying,   
   saying she is a monster. As Aiden comforts her, Xena is watching, then leaves   
   with tears in her   
   eyes.   
      
             That night Gabrielle is lying on the white half of a black and white   
   yin-yang bed. Xena   
   is doing sit ups on the floor. Gabrielle says she feels clean and light and   
   wants to stay another   
   night. She wishes Xena could feel how she feels.   
      
             Gabrielle tells Aiden she is concerned about Xena. He tells her   
   Xena's feelings could   
   make her jumpy, there will be changes in her appearance, she'll have mental   
   lapses and delusions   
   and there will be spontaneous bleeding. He says she can beat it because she   
   has Gabrielle.   
      
             Gabrielle finds Xena in the hot tub. She asks if Xena is all right   
   and she says she is.   
   Gabrielle puts her hand on Xena's shoulder and Xena takes it and squeezes   
   until Gabrielle screams   
   out in pain. But it is a delusion. Gabrielle leaves after Xena tells her she   
   is perfect.   
      
             Xena finds Aiden and threatens to put the pinch on him, but he tells   
   her the delusions   
   will only get worse until she hurts Gabrielle. And the only thing she can do   
   is to leave.   
      
             Xena is in their bedroom and Gabrielle comes in with a knot in her   
   back from the doing a   
   meditative pose. Xena starts to massage Gabrielle's back. As she does, blood   
   starts dripping from   
   her nose and she has to keep catching the drops. Xena has another vision of   
   Gabrielle being nailed   
   to the cross. But then she is the one with the maul driving a spike through   
   Gabrielle's feet.   
      
             Gabrielle is asleep. Xena tells her good bye and leaves.   
      
             Going through the garden, Xena notices a service medallion on one of   
   the statues. She   
   finds Garr and tells him they once were men, his platoon. She wants to know   
   what happened. He says   
   it was Aiden. He makes everyone so still he can leach the goodness out of them   
   and they turn into   
   statues. She realizes it will happen to Gabrielle. Xena says once the goodness   
   is out of her she   
   can fight Aiden.   
      
             Gabrielle is in a meditative pose on her belly with her arms behind   
   her, holding her   
   ankles with the soles of her feet up. Aiden is sitting on her feet. Xena comes   
   in to rescue   
   Gabrielle, but Aiden tells her she's too late and Gabrielle is in too deep.   
   She is turning blue.   
      
             Xena throws her Chakram but Aiden stops it with his mind. When Xena   
   attacks he uses his   
   mind to throw her around, pounding her on the floor. She is about to be   
   defeated when Garr comes   
   in. She hoists him over head, the flips her sword up so it is resting on the   
   end of the handle and   
   the point is up. Before she can impale Garr, Gabrielle comes out of the trance   
   and yells to Xena.   
   Xena then kicks her sword toward Aiden and he is stabbed in the gut. Gabrielle   
   and Xena are back to   
   normal.   
      
             As Aiden dies and melts into a puddle, the house, statues and garden   
   also begin to melt   
   away and they are back in the cave. Xena  tells Gabrielle knew that she would   
   never let her take an   
   innocent life.  Garr realizes he is free and goes to find his wife and   
   children.   
      
             Gabrielle says she sometimes talk about Xena's dark side as some   
   kind of disease, but   
   without it neither one of them would be there. Then she asks if she really has   
   hands of a sailor.   
      
   .......   
      
   An episode I remembered, but wasn't sure how much I actually liked it. I liked   
   it a lot.   
      
   Gabrielle never looked better, and I really liked the outfit she was wearing   
   while doing the   
   exercises with Aiden (in the interview clip, Rob said they deliberately made   
   Gabrielle look as good   
   as they could, and made sure she was 'in a hot little number' to do the   
   yoga).  Can't say enough   
   about how Reneé/Gabrielle looked doing the yoga -- sweet, sexy and quite   
   erotic.   
      
   The story was interesting. Gabrielle is on a spiritual quest, and they are on   
   their way to India.   
   Of course Xena is going to go along even though she seems to be skeptical of   
   it all.   
      
   Xena keeps having the vision of Gabrielle being nailed to the cross. I can't   
   remember if in the   
   very first vision Xena also saw herself. I thought she did, but in all the   
   subsequent visions all   
   she/we see is Gabrielle.
