From: davideml@bellsouth.net              6-05 Legacy                            First air date was on Oct. 30, 2000.              The story starts out with Xena and Gabrielle in a desert, leading their horses       through a sandstorm.       They are wearing clothes similar to what they wore in India. They find some       ruins with a large tub.       They bathe in it, washing the sand off.              After they get dressed they hear sounds of battle and go to investigate. They       see riders       surrounding and threatening men on foot. Xena says they are nomads and she and       Gabrielle ride down       to help them. Gabrielle starts to kill one of the nomads, hesitates, then       knocks him out and goes       on to the next one. After a short but successful battle, the riders run off,       including one who is       better dressed than the others.              One of the ones they saved was a woman and she is insulted they were helped.       They pull their       swords on X&G. When Gabrielle tells Xena "let's go" she asks who she is to       take the name of Xena       since she's long dead. When Gabrielle tells her she IS Xena the woman says she       supposes she is       Gabrielle, the Battling Bard of Poteidaia. Gabrielle confesses. To prove who       she is, Xena throws       her Chakram. It ricochets off a rock, splits into two, and breaks their       swords. They fall to the       ground in worship.              X&G are inside a tent at their camp. They are given food and drink. The woman,       Kahina, tells Xena       that she will lead them into battle against the Romans. She says they were       brought up on the       stories of Xena from Gabrielle's scrolls. Gabrielle is pleased they have come       so far. They are       offered men to sleep with for the night, but they refuse, claiming Amazon       chastity.              Gabrielle asks Xena if she has had moments of indecision - to disable or kill       someone. Xena tells       her to trust her instincts. When Gabrielle asks what if the instincts are       wrong, Xena says debating       that (in battle) could get her hurt.              Kahina, Xena, Gabrielle and others, ride to the other camp, led by Tazere, and       his son Korah. He       says the prophesies may be coming true and welcomes them. Korah tells       Gabrielle he admires her       skills with the sais and wants her to teach him to use them. He starts washing       her feet. Xena sees       this, looks a bit jealous, and decides it's time to go.              Xena wants to check out the town the Romans are in. Xena dresses as a Roman       noblewoman and       Gabrielle is her slave. She goes to talk to the Roman governor, acting as if       she want to invest       money in the town. He tells her they have a profitable trade route, protected       by the Roman       soldiers. When she asks about them uniting, a Roman soldier says they are just       waiting for Caesar's       Thracian whore, Xena, to lead them. They leave.              On the way back, they are caught in a sandstorm and get separated. Gabrielle       sees someone about to       stab Xena from behind so she pulls her sais and kills him. It is Korah,       holding a scroll with a       peace treaty between the two nomadic tribes. They take him back to the ruins       where Xena is washing       blood from Gabrielle's hands. She says she will take Korah back to his people.       Gabrielle wants to       go to explain but Xena talks her out of it.              In the camp, Xena lets Tazere believe it was the Romans who killed Korah.              Gabrielle is back at Kahina's. She is angry Xena let the think Romans did it.       Xena tells her death       is the penalty and her dying would serve no purpose. But Gabrielle insists the       father deserves to       know the truth.              Kahina and other men bring in a Roman they found in the desert. They are going       to take him to       Tazere to be executed. Gabrielle can't let them do that, and confesses. Kahina       is angry Xena lied       to them and says they can't follow her, and at dawn the next day, Gabrielle       will die.              Gabrielle is in chains next to Korah's body. Tazere comes in and asks her how       it feels to kill an       innocent. Before she can explain, he smacks her and says if he knew what a       snake she was he would       have killer her and Korah would be alive.              Gabrielle has flashback visions of her early days with Xena - leaving home,       healing during a       battle, Perdicus dying and not being able to kill Callisto, the accidental       killing when she lost       her blood innocence, following the Way of Love and throwing her battle staff       away, killing to save       Xena before they are crucified, and not killing Gurkhan because she didn't       want to be like him. She       says to (not-there) Xena that once she prayed never to see the light go out in       her but there isn't       much left, and her death is best for everyone.              The next day Gabrielle is taken out and buried up to her neck in the sand.       Riders are hitting       skulls with large rocks tied to long poles, practicing. Xena rides to the       Roman camp and tells the       governor where the nomads are.              Four nomads ride toward Gabrielle to kill her with the rock-poles. Xena throws       her Chakram,       breaking them. A lookout yells that the Romans are coming and they scatter.       Xena digs up Gabrielle       and they ride off.              Gabrielle tells Xena the night before she thought that her death was the best       thing for everyone.       Xena says she felt that way once - tired of hurting and wanted it to end. But       meeting Gabrielle       changed it. Gabrielle says she guesses they've come full circle.              X&G go back to the nomads and tell them they have no choice but to let them       help. Gabrielle says       they could have gone in the opposite direction, but maybe helping them will       make Korah's death have       some meaning. Both Kahina and Tazere realize they have no choice and agree.              A sandstorm is coming and the Romans are too. The soldiers stop at a Roman       helmet on a pole in the       sand. The storm hits and the nomads jump up from camouflaged holes in the       ground and they all       fight. Gabrielle saves Tazere's life.              After the battle, Gabrielle tells Xena she saved her against the greater good.       Xena tells her some       things go beyond the greater good, and she wasn't about to let Gabrielle die.       Gabrielle asks what       if it was her choice. Xena says especially if it was her choice.              Tazere comes up and says Gabrielle saving his life evens the scales between       them. Gabrielle says it       doesn't, and he says no, but that Korah could have been a great warrior - just       like her.              Gabrielle head drops in sadness.              ........              And yet another very good episode!              I guess Eve has gone her own way for a while. And Virgil must have gone back       to Meg.              I presume Xena and Gabrielle's regular clothes were in saddlebags, as were the       Roman noblewoman and       slave outfits they wore. But I'm still trying to figure out where they got the       desert clothes.              I like premise - Gabrielle wondering how she changed so that she could kill so       quickly - using her              [continued in next message]              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
