   6-17    The Last of the Centaurs   
      
      
      
   First air date was April 30, 2001.   
      
   The story starts out with soldiers in red outfits attacking three Centaurs.   
   Two of the Centaurs are   
   killed and the other one runs off, wounded from an arrow in the arm.   
      
   Cut to a marketplace where X&G are shopping. Gabrielle goes into a tent stall   
   to try on a hat and   
   shawl(?) when the spirit of Ephiny appears to her. She tells Gabrielle that   
   Xenan, her Centaur son,   
   is in danger. Xena says she can't see her, only Gabrielle her because of their   
   Amazon bond. A man   
   has a "wanted scroll" with Xenan's picture on it. He is wanted by Lord Belach.   
   Xena says it's time   
   to offer their services to Lord Belach.   
      
   Belach thinks X&G are more bounty hunters. Xena can't keep from staring at   
   him. Ephiny tells   
   Gabrielle he is the spitting image of Borias. Xena comes to her senses and   
   asks what the Centaur   
   did. Belach says he stole his daughter away, and since he's received no ransom   
   demands he fears the   
   worse. Xena tells him she knows his father was Borias. Belach tells her his   
   name is not to be   
   spoken there. He was a cruel-hearted warlord and he (Belach) built everything   
   he has despite being   
   his son. Xena tells him Borias is a legend to the Centaurs. Belach says he let   
   those freaks live on   
   his land for years. Also his wife died giving birth to their daughter, Nicha.   
   Xena says she'll   
   bring her back.   
      
   X&G and Ephiny are on Xenan's trail. Gabrielle wonders if Belach is also   
   Xena's son. She says no,   
   Borias had a son before she came along. Gabrielle says he's dangerous. Xena   
   says he's grieving and   
   she owes him.   
      
   Ephiny appears to Xenan. He can't see her but can feel her presence. X&G come   
   up and he's   
   defensive. Ephiny sings an Amazon song with words changed that she used to   
   sing to Xenan as a baby.   
   Gabrielle sings along and Xenan knows Ephiny is there. He calls out a pregnant   
   Nicha and they kiss.   
      
   Xena kneels down and puts her hand on Nicha's belly and deduces she's going to   
   have a boy, a   
   Centaur, and very soon. Xenan tells Xena the other Centaurs are camped in a   
   secret place. Xena says   
   they will escort them to the others and then negotiate peace with Belach. He   
   may think differently   
   since Nicha is PG .   
      
   Gabrielle asks why Xena owes Belach. Flashback to the time Xena seduced   
   Borais.  She wants him to   
   go away with her, leave his army and take all the money. They go into his tent   
   to "seal the deal."   
   Young Belach looks inside and sees them. Xena throws a blanket over him and   
   tells him to never get   
   between two people and their passion.   
      
   They arrive at the secret camp and all the centaurs are dead in a mass grave.   
   Xena asks no one,   
   "Son of Borias, what have you done?" Xenan wants to go after Belach, but Nicha   
   tells him he has to   
   stay alive for her son and for her. Xena tells him she will see justice done,   
   and leaves.   
      
   Xena tells Belach she's talked to Nicha and she's carrying Xenan's baby. And   
   asks him if he has any   
   idea what he's done. He says he did what he had to do. Xena says she can't   
   understand how he could   
   have betrayed his father's legacy. When he mentions the woman who took his   
   father away from him,   
   Xena repeats the line about not coming between two people and their passion.   
   He realizes Xena is   
   the woman. Xena says he's coming with her. He calls the guards. As she ties   
   his hands, Xena fights   
   off the guards and throws Belach out of the second story window down onto a   
   waiting horse. She   
   jumps on another one, uses her whip to snag the bridle and they race off with   
   Belach's men on   
   horses chasing them.   
      
   Xean eventually knocks the men off their horses and ends up behind Belach on   
   his horse.. He's still   
   not convinced and reminds her of the moment when Xena took Borias away.   
   Flashback to Natasha seeing   
   Boris and Xena together in the tent. He runs after Natasha while Xena mounts   
   up. He gets up one the   
   horse behind her but before they leave he gives Belach a pendant from around   
   his neck.   
      
   Bleach continues by saying when the army broke up he and his mother were sold   
   into servitude and   
   while they were starved and beaten he heard about Borias' exploits in the east   
   with her. He shows   
   the pendant and says it's the only thing he left him .   
      
   She takes him to the mass grave to let  him see what he's done, and asks who   
   his daughter would   
   think was more civilized, Borias or him. Belach asks if he looks too much like   
   his father for Xena   
   to kill. Just then his men run up and Xena leaves.   
      
   Gabrielle and Ephiny are taking Xenan and Nicha to safety. Nicha says she is   
   about to give birth   
   and they take shelter in an old farmhouse. Xenan goes outside to guard the   
   house. When he sees   
   Belach's men he has them chase after him. Two bounty hunters decide to search   
   the farmhouse to find   
   Nicha and hold her for ransom.   
      
   With Ephiny's advice, Gabrielle is getting Nicha to control her breathing and   
   to relax. The bounty   
   hunters come in and just as they find them, Xena comes in and knocks them out.   
      
   Xena gives Gabrielle her Chakram and tells her to make it as clean as she can.   
   Gabrielle wipes it   
   off with rags. She asks if Xena stopped Belach. She says she took him to the   
   camp to let him see   
   what he did. Gabrielle say she should have killed him. Xena says she couldn't   
   because he is Borias'   
   son. Gabrielle reminds her he slaughtered the Centaurs and is still  after   
   Xenan.   
      
   Xena puts the Pinch on Nicha to stop her labor pains, then cuts her open to   
   deliver the baby.   
   Gabrielle offers to sew her back up.   
      
   Outside, Belach calls to Xena. He has Xenan with ropes around his neck and   
   offers to trade him for   
   Nicha. Xena says she has a better idea, give her Xenan and she'll spare his   
   life.  When the men   
   start to kill Xena, Xena uses her Chakram to cut the ropes. She fights Belach   
   while Xenan fights   
   the men. Gabrielle runs out to help Xena. Xena is surrounded but jumps up and   
   spins just as all the   
   spears are jabbed at her. She comes down and fights some more. Belach's   
   reinforcements come.   
      
   Xenan and Nicha come out of the house and Nicha yells for every one to stop   
   fighting. Belach has a   
   crossbow on Xena, then turns it on Xenan. Nicha tells Belach she loves Xenan.   
   It is a standoff.   
      
   Xena tells Belach about Borias and another flashback to the time Xena gave   
   birth to Solan and as   
   Borias was dying she let him see him. She says Borias died trying to change   
   from what he became.   
   She asks Belach if he wants Nicha to hate him the same way he hated Borias.   
   Belach has a change of   
   heart and tells Nicha to give the pendant to her son, which they named Borias,   
   when he's old
