   I'd really like to know this. Did you hear the name or see it in a TV

   I've always wondered about that one, too. I don't know any internal   
   (in-series) explanation, but in view of the idea that Gabrielle is meant   
   to stand in for the viewer, as a character the viewer can identify with,   
   so giving her a "modern" name (or at least a name that sounds more   
   familiar to an American or non-Greek European audience) strengthens this   
   peculiar role of hers.
