   'I'm grateful for everything it gave me: Lucy Lawless talks about her role   
   as Xena... but admits she likes to keep it separate from 'real life' during   
   TV appearance

   She shot to fame with her role as Xena: Warrior Princess over 20 years ago.   
   And on Thursday, Lucy Lawless was more than happy to talk about the role   
   that kick started her career during an interview with Sunrise host Samantha   
   Armytage on Thursday. Although, the 47-year-old revealed that in her 'real   
   life' she doesn't talk about Xena much, by saying: 'My kids, I don't even   
   think they've seen a show to be honest with you.'   
      
   Humble beginnings: Lucy Lawless explained in an interview with Sunrise host   
   Samantha Armytage on Thursday that unlike some stars she is more than happy   
   to talk about the role that kick started her career   
      
   Xena: Warrior Princess debuted on the small screen in 1995, and Lucy   
   credited the overall theme to it's popularity over the years.   
      
   'The self realisation of the individual, somebody who doesn't feel like they   
   fit in and I think secretly we all have this kind of existential crisis   
   where we feel like we don't belong,' she said.   
      
   The actress became an international sex symbol for her role in the cult hit   
   series, but said that her regular Australian fans 'just want to say hi'.   
      
   Lucy is set to appear at the Oz Comic Con festival in Perth and Adelaide   
   later on this year and discuss her many sci-fi roles.   
      
   She landed a role co-starring with Bruce Campbell in Starz's Evil Dead   
   spinoff, Ash Vs. The Evil Dead.   
      
      
   NBC has reportedly ordered a new pilot from CW's The 100 writer Javier   
   Grillo-Marxuach who has confirmed that this time round the show will be   
   clear about the chemistry between Xena and Gabrielle.   
      
   During a Q&A on Tumblr this week, Grillo-Marxuach implied the women will be   
   lovers.   
      
   He wrote: 'i am a very different person with a very different world view   
   than my employer on the 100 - and my work on the 100 was to use my skills to   
   bring that vision to life. xena will be a very different show made for very   
   different reasons.   
      
   'There is no reason to bring back xena if it is not there for the purpose of   
   fully exploring a relationship that could only be shown subtextually in   
   first-run syndication in the 1990s.
