His new show Californication is averaging 1.9 million viewers each week.   
   and that is huge for   
   the cable network his show is on. The X-files was averaging at least 3   
   times that during the 8th, and 9th seasons. So why was DD unhappy with   
   the X-Files when the ratings for that show were so much better than the   
   ratings for his new show? And if he would have participated in the   
   X-FIles at the end of it's run, the ratings would have been much higher,   
   and the series might have been picked up for a tenth season.
