I still love Doggett. I'm convinced DD's       departure actually improved the quality of the show for a while. I mean,       not that Mulder wasn't great and all. I love the guy. He's wacky, and he       always made a great sidekick for Scully.              But by Season 7, he was just getting tired of the rôle. It became less       fun to watch him. His leaving allowed Robert Patrick to step and show       how dedicated he was to his part, totally oblivious to what ratings       they'd earn, or how 'fans' would say that the show was over when DD       left. It was fun again to watch XF with Doggett and Scully. (At least,       at those moments not involving the word 'pregnant' or any manifestation       of the condition of which that adjective is descriptive.)               Annabeth was no Gillian, but hell, she and The Dawg did pretty well,       for people who had such shoes to fill. Too many people just never gave       them a chance, because they already had such firm prejudices about what       the show with them would be like. I still have some episodes that are       regular favourites right up through the last season.              --       --Sean       http://spclsd223.livejournal.com/              House: Only one man left in the bullpen, and he throws like a girl.              Cameron: I hate sports metaphors.
