   Re: XF2 Box Office?

   ] (Godzilla)

]Back when the X-Files was at its peak, the XF
] movie made about $84 million in North
] America, and another $105 overseas for a
] total of $189 million. Which I am sure was a
] big profit depending on how much the budget
   ] was.

The budget was around $80 million! So it was no blockbuster that's for
sure. Now if the first one had made $500 million we would probably be up
   to X-Files 9, by now.

]Now its been 10 years since the movie and 6
] years since the series ended (when the movie
] comes out 7-25-08) Just wondering what
] people are thinking XF2 can expect at the box
   ] office.

It all depends on the movie at this point. If it is a good story, and
the critical reviews are good, it will do well at the boxoffice. If the
reviews are bad, it might go straight to Video, like GA's last movie.
What was the name of that movie?

]There are 2 possibilties. If at its peak it made
] $84 here, can it top that? Are people still
] interested? Or since there have been no
] X-Files for 6 years, it will create a buzz and
] excitement and it will do $150 million.

   ]Thoughts? How will XF2 perform?

People are probably more curious about Fox Mulder, and Dana Scully
gettting back together then they are interested in "another" X-FIles
movie. It will have to be a great movie to get people to go to the
movies to see it. If it is just like another episode of the X-Files.
people can just stay home, and watch old DVD epsodes of the X-FIles. So
everything depends on how good the movie is, the "name alone" will not
   sell the movie.
