   As alien invastion stories go, I'm rather more fond of Bradbury's "The   
   Concrete Mixer" and some story, from Erik Frank Russell, if memory serves,   
   involving a couple of giant snail aliens who touch down and pull off an   
   interesting sleight-of-hand on the people of Earth. Can't remember the name   
   of the story.
