   I recently watched an hour-long special on the Tunguska event. I think it   
   was on the Discovery Channel. It was called 'Siberian Apocalypse' or   
   something like that. They're actually making some bit of progress with   
   working toward finding out just what the hell happened. There's no   
   definitive answer yet, but there is recent evidence and ideas that make it   
   very much an active topic of study.
