To be honest, I think she was using the search for Monica Bannan as an
excuse to meet Mulder. She knew of his work, and since I don't think
the FBI was probably actively publicizing the old X-Files cases, it
seems to me she would have had to seek them out to know about them.

Well, there have been hints throughout the show, going all the way back to
Season 1, that Mulder and the X-Files were a somewhat common and popular
topic of water-cooler discussion amongst *all* the agents in the FBI, and
even that there were actually fully-formed camps of 'believers' and
'sceptics'. Think of Leyla Harrison versus the early Jeffrey Spender, for
example. Even Scully had heard all the Mulder stories before she was
assigned to the XF (from the pilot -- remember in that first scene in
Blevins's office she said she already knew Mulder 'by reputation').

I don't find it hard to believe at all that a reasonably open-minded, random
agent would actually be pretty well-acquainted with Mulder's work by pure
accident, because everyone was always talking about it, and then decide to
seek him out after finding that a case of hers would be well-suited for his
   skills.

And throughout the movie, she seemed just a tad TOO attentive to
   him.

Maybe she was the reincarnation of that creepy dog-loving chick with lupus
from 'Alpha'. Who, BTW, I am willing to go on record as saying that she was
totally sexy, and I don't care what anyone else says.
