   ]He did have a weapon, he had that hammer he   
   ] took from the abandoned pickup truck. It   
   ] wasn't an IDEAL weapon, but he didn't go in   
   ] there without SOMEthing to defend himself.   
      
   He used the hammer on the guard dog. It was still in the dog when the   
   camera panned over it. So he did not have any weapon when he went in the   
   building to confront the "bad guys"! The only thing he had to defend   
   himself was his voice, and as you can tell, that did not work out very   
   well. ;-)
