Yes, that was definitely one of the big XF numbers. There were more than
   just 1013 and 1121.

I believe 517 was commonly used as a reference to Frank Spotnitz's wife's
birthday, just as 1121 was CC's wife's birthday. That's probably the genuine
explanation for the Nisei train car number -- I'm pretty sure the 10-13 sum
is just a happy coincidence. (The only reason I even thought to split it up
and add it together that way was because I saw someone mention it in a
fan-written XF MST3K parody about 10 years ago.)

Then again, maybe it *was* intentional -- they knew it had to be a 5-digit
number, and Spotnitz wanted the 517 at the end, but they still needed 2 more
digits at the beginning, and since 517 adds to 13 they chose those digits on
purpose to add to 10. It's a possible scenario, though it seems rather
   convoluted and unlikely.

There were also a lot of 925's (GA's daughter's birthday). There may be a
few more common numbers that aren't coming to mind right off the top of my
   head.
