1d45282d        ]6:37am From: john@johndoherty.com              ]from Wiki: "Anna Torv was born in Melbourne       ] to Susan and Hans Torv and grew up on the       ] Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia." It's a neat       ] acting trick to let slip a Scandinavian accent       ] when you grew up in Oz, eh?;-)              My mistake, I just assumed with a name like Torv she was from a nordic       country. She still let's her accent slip from time to time, and that is       a sign of bad acting. The lead actor on The Mentalist is also from       Australia and you would never know it because he never let's his accent       slip out. The same is true of the lead actor on Without a Trace he is       also from Australia. If you play an American you use an American accent,       and you do not let your real accent slip out at any time. Every       non-American Actor can do it why can't she? Even "House" can do it, and       he is British!              ]I guess this is to be expected in a newsgroup       ] dedicated to the X- Files.       ]I enjoyed X files, though was not a devoted       ] viewer. But it's not the universal template for       ] any future show, and it might well ruin a show       ] to hew to closely to this model.              That's right, and we have been looking for a good X-FIles like show for       years now, and still no Luck. "Supernatural" comes close, and that is       probably because a lot of the people who were in the production crew on       the X-FIles are now on this show.              ]The amateurs with the #1 movie in the country       ] right now, and also Lost which has a deep       ] following.       ]WTF?!? Really??!!       ]Is everything outside of the X Files       ] amateurish?              Well this production company missed the boat on Fringe. Maybe they were       too busy making "Star Trek" to do a decent job on Fringe. And Lost was       good at first but it soon fizzled out. That deep following you speak of       went from 20 mllion the first season to barely 10 million now. And you       are right, everything so far, outside of the X-FIles, seems totatly       amateurish!              ]I think you are trying to pound a round peg into       ] a square hole, and you'd do better to forget       ] the X Files for a minute to enjoy Fringe on its       ] own terms. But, YMMV.              You are probably right I have been trying to like Fringe ever since it       started, but it is not a very good show. A lot of the acting is       laughable, and most of the writing is just plain bad! Now I will       probably watch the first few episodes of next season but if there no       improvement, I am gone!              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
