   As I've written previously, we're seeing quite a few "lights in the   
   sky" over outer Melbourne from time to time.   
      
   After an apparently blitz by "whomever" using light aircraft, a couple   
   different choppers, and a jet, it had seemed activity had dived to   
   zero with 2-3-4 days with no apparent movement in the sky when prev it   
   seemed there was always something weird going on each night between   
   8pm and 10pm.   
      
   After a couple nights that were totally socked in because an   
   "atmospheric river" linking the Melbourne region with the Antarctic   
   Peninsula had brought wall to wall cloud in off the sea at dusk we   
   finally had another pretty clear moonless night today.   
      
   I got the beach chairs out and took up position with a cup of coffee   
   in my front yard. And, sure enough, starting around 8pm various things   
   started to happen.   
      
   First there were a couple flashes. A violet one in the S and a slow   
   yellow "pulse" in the N.   
      
   Then the first dim light turned up coming from the N and meandering S   
   at a leisurely pace. It seemed after that dim lights came from the N   
   (going S) and the S (going N) alternately for 10-20 mins.  At one   
   point 2 of the lights got extremely visually close directly overhead,   
   with a brighter one going N and the dimmer one going S.   
      
   There was a break in proceedings and I started to sip on the coffee a   
   bit, looking toward the W over the house. Orion was starting to   
   cartwheel over to the NW. I took a couple more sips.   
      
   And then some weird "shape" moved briskly from left (S) to right (N)   
   seemingly over the house. It looked like a moving ripple in the sky.   
   Some people might call it a cloaked UFO.   
      
   Nothing happened for a few more mins so I decided to move position to   
   my patio.   
      
   Nothing happened for a few mins then -- surprise -- I looked up and   
   another kind of disturbance that looked a bit like a fast moving cloud   
   went directly over me toward the N where it quickly disappeared in the   
   night sky.   
      
   I wandered back inside and got another coffee and a piece of paper.   
      
   Sketching up a figure of the 2 "ghost" sightings I figure if they were   
   both the same kind of object then one was seen 30m away from were I   
   was the 2nd time. The first one was about 45 deg up from the horiz and   
   appeared to be going over the house. The 2nd sighting was directly above.   
      
   This would mean the 2nd sighting was 30m away from me. (The first   
   signing must have been 42 because it was the hypotenuse of the   
   triangle).   
      
   The "object" (or "effect" I guess I should say) was maybe 3x3 deg when   
   it went by overhead. So that means it was around 1.5-2m across.   
      
   Anyway. Kinda spooky to think some weird junk flew 30m above my head.   
      
   Close encounter?   
      
   They'll be landing on the roof next, and I'm not prepared for visitors.
