XPost: sci.skeptic, alt.paranormal, alt.atheism       XPost: alt.alien.research       From: jtem01@gmail.com              Okay I did the Google thing and apparently the       bacterial life we're so familiar with, here on Earth,       typically ranges from 1 to 10 microns in size. And,       the famous "Fossil-looking" structures found within       the Mars Rock maxed out at maybe 2 microns in size.              That was them at their biggest.              But, NASA's $2.5 billion dollar Curiosity rover, whose       entire mission can be summed up as "Searching for Life"       can't image anything smaller than 12.5 microns!              Get it? The machine sent to Mars to search for life       can't even see bacterial life as we know it here on the       Earth!              Most of it, anyway.              When what we know is bacterial life usually maxes out       at 10 microns, and what we think /May/ be Mars life       fossilized in a rock maxes out at 2 microns, they       built Curiosity so it can't see down further than 12.5       microns.              IT'S OFF BY 2.5 MICRONS FOR MOST OF EARTH LIFE,       PERHAPS MORE THAN 10.5 MICRONS FOR MARS LIFE, going       by the famous "Mars Rock" meteorite...              So them's the facts, according to the Google, searching       online sources.              The facts suggests a few possibilities here, not all of       them equal in probability...              #1.       They don't want to find life on Mars.              There are many who don't. Some even believe it would       be horribly disruptive to human society -- proof of       life on other worlds. Then again, some believed that       Gilligan's Island & I Love Lucy were real, so there's       no accounting for beliefs. But it is a fact that there       is a school of thought that life on other worlds,       knowledge thereof, could be very disruptive to human       society.              #2.       They've already found it.              For all we know there's libraries of data, terabytes of       images and countless scientific papers all confirming       life on Mars, and the instrumentation is looking for       something else.              That famous Mars Rock I keep talking about, for       example? Maybe it was conclusively shown to contain       fossilized life, as there is testing that is claimed to       be definitive in such matters. Or at least it was       definitive until it was actually performed on the Mars       Rock and confirmed "Life." This really happened. The       definitive test that was fool-proof in identifying       fossilized life from natural rock suddenly stopped       being definitive the moment it returned a positive on       the Mars Rock. But maybe it didn't... didn't stop being       definitive. Maybe it convinced NASA and the experts so       they aren't looking for such proof anymore.              Maybe they're looking for something else.              Maybe NASA isn't looking for life on Mars now, maybe       they're looking for larger and/or more complex life forms.       Maybe they're looking for multicellular, complex life       forms. Or...              Or, combined with #1 (above), they know exactly what the       life on Mars looks like and they're trying to avoid it!              The above rephrased...              Think of this: Experiments/instrumentation are engineered       to tell NASA things it doesn't know. So if there's       something obvious that they're missing -- like lenses that       can see life as we know it to exist in the case of Bacteria       -- then maybe it's because such images could not tell NASA       anything that they don't already know, or want to know.              #3.       Earth contamination              Maybe the possibility of earth contamination is so strong,       from all the probes and whatnot, that 12.5 microns is the       absolute smallest they can confidently go without the fear       of "Detecting" earth contamination. (See #2, above)              Finding macroscopic life would rule out human       contamination, as there's been about 60 years where we       have potentially been contaminating Mars. That just doesn't       seem long enough for microscopic contamination to evolve       into anything larger and more complex. And if we fond some       pretty big fossilized life forms, and it's old enough, it       could potentially rule out any flavor of Panspermia seeding       Mars with life from the Earth or elsewhere. Thus...              If you think there's life but want to rule out human       contamination, or even some flavor of Panspermia where       life jumps from the Earth to Mars, the older, the larger and       more complex the life is, the better.              #4.       They're lying              Okay so maybe they're not stupid, maybe they're not       paranoid and maybe, just maybe they don't have proof       positive of life on Mars but they are certain that they'd       want to control all the information if they do find it.       So, they lie to us. They did include instruments that can       image bacterial life as we know it, perhaps even bacterial       life as the Mars Rock might contain, but they lied because       their job is to do the science, collect the data and leave       it to the elected officials to decide when & if that data       will be released. NASA, after all, exists to carry out       government policy. It does not make government policy.              Elected Officials = Make policy              NASA = Carries out policy              So they lie to us. They hide the fact that they're capable       of detecting bacterial life so in the event they do detect       it they can better keep it a a secret unless & until the       elected officials decide to announce it.                            Four explanations, not all of equal likelihood.                            (Repost from 2022)              --       https://jtem.tumblr.com/tagged/The%20Book%20of%20JTEM/page/5              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
