   The very point of science is to eliminate the human element,   
   remove the assumptions and leave only facts. Merely deciding   
   what would or would not happen -- what motivates or does not   
   motivate NASA -- is the dark ages approach to the world.   
      
   NASA spent billions on a search for life telling us that their   
   equipment can't even image most life as we know it to exist.   
      
   Why?   
      
   Come up with every plausible answer, not just the one that   
   satisfies you the most.
