But I certainly won’t       > believe it without evidence.              I think that alien tech in our solar system, or even somewhere on       our planet, is logical. It's not fact per se, but it does seem       quite logical... reasoned... an inference.              Alien tech might be inferred.              Even if only 1 alien civilization sends some kind of tech our       way -- a probe, even a Voyager type probe -- ONCE every 1 million       years, there's been around 500 since the Cambrian Explosion.              Right?              There's been 65 or 66 since the dinosaurs went extinct.              There was 1, maybe even 2 that arrived during the reign of       Homo erectus.              Remember: Even a civilization roughly as advanced as we are,       but with better priorities, might've sent out a james webb       space telescope type probe a generation or more ago!              Forget "Television signals" or our radio. Those signals would       be so weak, so degraded that it's likely impossible to detect       them, much less read them, on distant worlds. But, with the       james webb space telescope we can already detect "Biosignatures"       on worlds more than 100 light years away!              So what I'm saying is that for any civilization within a hundred       light years from us, if they exist now or have existed at any       point during the last few billion years, they could look at Earth       and know that AT THE VERY LEAST we are a very strong candidate       for life.              They are NOT watching our TV shows but they can read the       biosignatures produced by life on Earth.                                   --       https://jtem.tumblr.com/tagged/The%20Book%20of%20JTEM/page/5              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
