      From: PYRO4@COWROUTER.COM              FREEBSD does EXACTLY what you tell it to do. During your first       installation you really need to pay attention to what is going on. It       is EXTREMELY EASY to not install packages needed for x11. UNIX doesn't       care.. it will run like a champion without GUI. Take this oportunity to       learn your way around the OS in the CLI. As your primary computer       though you may get frustrated. Set up a nice melow version of LINUX       (Debian, REDHAT, MANDRAKE, etc etc etc) and set up freeBSD on a       secondary computer. Network them, SSH into the BSD box and commence to       learning it. As for getting this one running.... as a user new to the       BSD world.. re install.. pay close attention to what you are putting on       it and what you are excluding.
