   After installing a tape drive in a SCO/Unix openserver 5.0.5 box the modem   
   stopped working properly(not sure if just a coinsidence or not) The modem is   
   for dial-in remote logins,   
      
   upon initial connect it generates what at first appeared to be meaningless   
   line noise, but i belive may be something misconfigured(the "noise" is the   
   same characters at each login)  The login prompt is never displayed   
      
   any ideas?
