FERGUSON, Mo. – At least five people have been charged in connection with
protests outside the Ferguson Police Department commemorating the 10th
anniversary of Michael Brown Jr.’s death, after one police officer was
   critically injured while
   attempting to arrest a protester.

The protests and confrontation happened on the evening of August 9 in the 200
   block of South Florissant Road.

Police said Officer Travis Brown was part of an arrest team dispatched just
before 11:50 p.m. to detain protesters who broke the police station security
   gate.

While attempting to make an arrest, police said Brown was shoulder-tackled and
knocked to the ground, where he struck his head. Two officers detained Elijah
Gantt, the man accused of shouldering Officer Brown. Those officers suffered
   minor injuries while
   arresting Gantt.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Gantt with
resisting arrest, first-degree property damage, first-degree assault, and two
counts of fourth-degree assault. Bell is seeking charges against other
   protesters.

   Four other protesters were arrested:

Emily R. Davis was charged with third-degree assault and resisting arrest.
Police said Emily Davis shoved a Ferguson police officer while they attempted
to provide first aid to a downed colleague. Davis is also accused of pushing
   and pulling away from an
officer attempting to make an arrest.
Phillip H. March was charged with first-degree property damage. Police said
March was seen on security video jerking on the gate and breaking its locking
   mechanism.
Keith W. Rose was charged with first-degree property damage. Police said Rose
broke the lower part of the security gate by pushing and kicking on the gate.
Derrick Robinson was charged with first-degree property damage. Police said
Robinson was seen on security video jerking on the gate and breaking its
   locking mechanism.
