The       technology is located at busy intersections around the city.              RELATED: Community members and leaders come together to address gun violence       in Auburn              The system is also touted as being able to help investigate crime by providing       evidence to police that they would need to clear cases.              “According to the International Association of Chiefs of Police, 7 in 10       crimes are committed with a vehicle,"Crossley wrote. "Flock Safety LPR cameras       capture license plates and vehicle characteristics, not people or faces.”              RELATED:Seattle City Council approves expansion of license plate readers for       all police vehicles              "Flock safety cameras have become an invaluable tool in helping keep the       community safe," APD Chief Mark Caillier said. "In the short period of time       they have been deployed in Auburn, they have been utilized in the recovery of       several stolen vehicles and        locating and arresting two homicide suspects."              The cameras will cost Auburn $60,000 a year to operate. Crossley said they       will use federal funds to pay for the cameras over the next two years. Once       that money runs out, the cost will be absorbed into the city's budget.              Eighteen cameras have already been put up and are operating. They are working       on adding two more by the end of this month.              Flock Safety cameras are used in over 5,000 communities, and the company works       with more than 3,000 police departments.              https://komonews.com/news/local/auburn-police-department-license       plate-camera-readers-install-washington-seattle-king-county-crim       -crisis-stolen-car-vehicle-databate-detected-flock-safety-alert-       mber-silver-officers-property-violence-violence-       justification#              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
