   A Milwaukee father is heartbroken after recently suffering immeasurable   
   losses, including the death of his 31-year-old daughter, Chyna Long, a Black   
   trans woman who was shot and killed last weekend.   
      
   Jonathan Long said Chyna was born JaQuez Long in Milwaukee on March 30, 1992.   
   She had been a resident of Chicago for about the last eight years, but   
   Jonathan said she was in town to provide her father comfort as he had been   
   dealing with the death of his    
   brother.   
      
   Jonathan, 49, said he and Chyna had a special relationship and they helped   
   each other grow. He said, "Her biggest fear was not being accepted by her   
   family."   
      
   Chyna told her dad when she turned 18 that she was gay, but her father said   
   she later identified as transgender starting at about 23 years old.   
      
   Jonathan knew his child was queer since around age 7, but it was new territory   
   for Jonathan when she began identifying as a woman and preferred to be called   
   Chyna instead of Quez. So, he made it his life's mission to educate himself   
   and ensure his child    
   could live her truth.
