XPost: alt.fan.rush-limbaugh, mn.politics, alt.politics.democrats       XPost: talk.politics.guns, sac.politics       From: another.democrat.creation@your.expense              A teenager accused of fatally shooting a 17-year-old and wounding a       19-year-old, and then days later leading police on a chase, has been charged.              The 17-year-old Minneapolis boy is charged as a juvenile with second-degree       murder, attempted second-degree murder, two counts of felony possession of a       firearm and fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.              The Hennepin County Attorney's Office seeks to try the boy as an adult, a news       release says.              According to the juvenile petitions, Minneapolis police responded to a report       of gunshots at a gas station near Fremont Avenue North and Dowling Avenue       North. Police arrived to find Andre Conley, 17, shot three times and a       19-year-old man shot in the        torso. Conley died at the hospital.              Conley, a senior at Patrick Henry High School, served as an outreach leader       for Republican candidate Lacy Johnson's campaign. Johnson is challenging       Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar. The injured man also worked with the       campaign, but neither of them was        campaigning at the time of the shooting.              At the scene of the gas station shooting, police recovered 11 discharged       cartridge casings that were fired from different weapons, the petition states.              A few days later, on Sept. 17, police were conducting electronic surveillance       and following the 17-year-old suspect, who was driving a Chevy Impala near the       area of 7th Street and Lyndale Avenue North, charges state.              Follow Bring Me The News on YouTube              Police attempted to stop the teenager, but he fled by driving through the       North Loop in downtown Minneapolis. the petitions says. He continued onto       Interstate 394 West, driving through barricades for the carpool/MnPASS lane       heading into oncoming traffic,        then took northbound U.S. Highway 169, exiting at Medicine Lake Road.              Golden Valley police assisted in the chase, which ended when a Golden Valley       police car hit the suspect's vehicle in the city of Plymouth, the petition       says. By the time the chase ended, the Imapala had suffered body damage and       the engine appeared to be        smoking.              The suspect, who was trying to crawl out the driver's side window and then       hooked his legs around the steering wheel while officers tried to arrest him,       was eventually pulled from the car and detained, charges say. In the car,       police found a .22 revolver.              Meanwhile, during the chase, the suspect threw a phone and gun out the window.       Police recovered both, and ballistics testing showed the gun was used in the       Sept. 14 shooting, the petition notes.              During an interview with police, the teenager admitted to being involved in       the shooting, charges say.              The teenager made his first court appearance on Monday and is being detained       at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.              https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-news/charges-minneapolis-te       n-fatally-shot-17-year-old-led-police-on-a-chase-days-later              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
