   A St. Paul man is facing up to 40 years in prison over a double shooting that   
   happened earlier this month.   
      
   On Saturday, August 7, a man and a woman were shot while lying in bed in a   
   home on the 1200 block of Westminster Street in St. Paul.   
      
   Police responded and encountered the victims — identified in court documents   
   as TK and AA — with multiple bullet wounds. They were soon transported to a   
   local hospital for treatment.   
      
   Both victims identified Maxwell Allan Gardner, 27, as the shooter. According   
   to the charges, the woman, AA, had lived in the residence with Gardner for a   
   time but had recently been "hooking up" with TK, who is her estranged husband.   
      
   The two planned on getting back together, with Gardner having moved out of the   
   home the day before the shooting.   
      
   On the morning of the crime, however, TK woke up to the sound of the front   
   door being kicked in, and as he sat up in bed, saw Gardner standing in the   
   doorway pointing a gun at them, prosecutors say.   
      
   According to the charges, the defendant said, "I’m going to kill you both   
   today” and opened fire.   
      
   AA initially told police she didn't want to identify who shot her "because he   
   was a really nice guy" and she didn't "know what happened to him," but later   
   revealed that he may have "cracked over jealousy and got the gun from his   
   father’s house."   
      
   TK, meanwhile, picked the suspect out of a lineup, the charges say.   
      
   He's charged with two counts of attempted murder, and his bail has been set at   
   $1 million.   
      
   Per the Pioneer Press, he is still in custody at the Ramsey County Adult   
   Detention Center, with his next court appearance scheduled for Sept. 21.
