XPost: alt.fan.rush-limbaugh, mn.politics, alt.politics.democrats.governors       XPost: talk.politics.guns, sac.politics       From: democrat-pussy@minnesota.guv              An 18-year-old man was sentenced to 25 years in prison in connection to a       fatal shooting at a gas station in Minneapolis last September.              Jomoy Lee, who was 17 at the time of the shooting that killed 17-year-old       Andre Conley, pleaded guilty in July to intentional second-degree murder and       being a felon in possession of a firearm.              As part of the plea deal, Lee was sentenced on Monday to 300 months (25 years)       in prison, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office said. Lee had previously       waived certification to be tried as an adult.              Lee did not provide a statement to the court during his sentencing.              Related [Sept. 22]: Charges: Minneapolis teen fatally shot 17-year-old, led       police on a chase days later              A second shooter, Kejuan Haywood, 18, of Minneapolis, was charged with       intentional second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.              A 19-year-old was also injured in the Sept. 14, 2020, shooting.              Conley was a senior at Patrick Henry High School and served as an outreach       leader for Republican candidate Lacy Johnson's 2020 campaign. Johnson       challenged Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar.              A 19-year-old man was also injured in the Sept. 14, 2020, shooting. He also       worked with the campaign but neither of them was campaigning at the time of       the shooting.              The shooting       According to the criminal complaints, Minneapolis police responded to a report       of gunshots at the Super USA gas station at 3807 Fremont Ave. N to find Conley       shot three times. He died at the hospital.              The 19-year-old man was shot in the torso.              Then, on Sept. 17, 2020, police were conducting electronic surveillance and       following Lee, who was driving a Chevy Impala near the area of 7th Street and       Lyndale Avenue North, charges state.              Police attempted to stop Lee, but he fled by driving through the North Loop in       downtown Minneapolis, charges said. He continued onto Interstate 394 West,       driving through barricades for the carpool/MnPASS lane heading into oncoming       traffic, then took        northbound U.S. Highway 169, exiting at Medicine Lake Road.              Golden Valley police assisted in the chase, which ended when a Golden Valley       police car hit Lee's vehicle in the city of Plymouth, charges said. By the       time the chase ended, the Impala had suffered body damage and the engine       appeared to be smoking.              Lee, who was trying to crawl out the driver's side window and then hooked his       legs around the steering wheel while officers tried to arrest him, was       eventually pulled from the car and detained, charges said. In the car, police       found a .22 revolver.              Meanwhile, during the chase, Lee threw a phone and gun out the window. Police       recovered both, and ballistics testing showed the gun was used in the Sept. 14       shooting, the complaint said.              During an interview with police, Lee admitted to being involved in the       shooting, charges said. He also identified Haywood as one of the shooters.              Haywood's next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Aug. 31.              https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-news/man-who-fatally-shot-1       -year-old-boy-at-minneapolis-gas-station-sentenced-to-25-years-in-prison              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
