   A Bemidji State University athlete is facing prison time after being charged   
   with two counts of sexually assaulting a minor.   
      
   Colin Thomas Rudolph Schaefer, 22, is a BSU junior and basketball player from   
   Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. He's accused of meeting the victim, a 15-year-old   
   girl, through social media platforms Tinder and Snapchat.   
      
   Per Northern News Now, the criminal complaint says she told authorities that   
   the sexual encounters took place in Schaefer's car; in a December interview   
   with police, Schaefer admitted to having sexual relations with her "a couple   
   of times" but allegedly    
   said that age was not discussed.   
      
   According to FOX 9, prosecutors have filed a notice of intent to seek an   
   aggravated sentence against Schaefer if he's convicted.   
      
   In a statement to WDIO, a spokesperson for BSU's athletic department confirmed   
   only that a student on the basketball team "whose name matches that of the   
   person who was arrested" is currently not participating in any team activities.   
      
   Schaefer's next court appearance is scheduled for January 22.
