   DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A Duluth man accused of sexually   
   assaulting a 13-year-old he met on Snapchat has been charged.   
      
   Deshawn Gardner, 24, of Duluth was charged with first-degree criminal sexual   
   conduct.   
      
   According to the criminal complaint on April 30 at around 8:45 a.m.,   
   authorities responded to a caller in Superior who said her 13-year-old   
   daughter was sexually assaulted.   
      
   The mother stated the victim had sexual relations with Gardner after they met   
   on Snapchat.   
      
   Court documents say the victim told her mother that on April 28 Gardner had   
   picked her up from her Superior home and brought her to his apartment in   
   Duluth. They allegedly had sexual relations and then Gardner arranged to have   
   the victim brought back    
   home.   
      
   On May 3, investigators met with the victim and her mother,.   
      
   The victim said she identified herself on Snapchat as a 13-year-old. She   
   recalled that Gardner told her he was 20 years old.   
      
   Investigators executed a search warrant at Gardner’s apartment on Raleigh   
   Street on May 8, confirming the description given by the victim.   
      
   During an interview with authorities on May 9, Gardner said the victim was   
   “trying to set him up and get him convicted of statutory rape.”   
      
   Court documents say Gardner admitted he met the victim on Snapchat, made plans   
   to pick her up, and that they engaged in sexual activity.   
      
   He is still being held at the St. Louis County Jail with a bail set at $10,000.   
      
   His next court appearance is set for June 4.
