   Police say Jarrod Adams followed a woman into her home and assaulted   
   her.(Grand Forks County Correctional Center)   
      
   GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A Grand Forks man is sentenced to spend   
   30 years in prison for kidnapping, assaulting, and attempting to sexually   
   assault a woman.   
      
   Jarrod Jashawn Adams, age 29 at the time, was found guilty of Attempted Gross   
   Sexual Imposition, Kidnapping, Terrorizing, Interference with a Telephone   
   during an emergency call and Simple Assault.   
      
   Police say it happened around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022, in the 2600   
   block of 13th Avenue South in Grand Forks. According to court documents, the   
   victim said a man was following her and she was scared for her safety.   
      
   Authorities say Adams followed a woman into a secure apartment building and   
   asked her to use her phone. Adams is accused pointing toward his waistband,   
   referencing he may have a weapon, and instructing the victim not to scream.   
   Officials say she ran down    
   the hallway into an apartment, but he grabbed her as she screamed for help.   
      
   According to court documents, the woman fought Adams away and he ended up   
   running from the building. He was arrested later that same day.   
      
   On September 15, 2023, a judge sentenced Adams to 20 years for the attempted   
   gross sexual imposition charge. He was also sentenced to 20 years on the   
   kidnapping charge, with 10 years suspended. He was given credit for time   
   already served from May 1, 2022    
   to September 15, 2023.   
      
   However, Adams was re-sentenced by the state supreme court on November 1,   
   2024, according to court records, but reportedly will still serve 30 years   
   behind bars.
