   FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A West Fargo man has been arrested for   
   allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in a vehicle outside of a Fargo   
   apartment complex.   
      
   Vernon Scotland is charged with one felony count of sexual imposition   
   involving threat or coercion.   
      
   According to court documents, police were called to Essentia Health on June 15   
   for a report of a sexual assault. The woman says she was leaving her apartment   
   that morning when Scotland approached her. She told officers she did not know   
   who Scotland was,    
   and doesn’t remember all of the details, but ended up in an SUV in the   
   parking lot.   
      
   She claims they were drinking and smoking marijuana, but when she said she   
   didn’t want anymore, he forced her to continue drinking, court records state.   
      
   The victim says she fell asleep or blacked out at one point and woke up to a   
   strong feeling of pain and Scotland on top of her, sexually assaulting her.   
      
   The woman says after the alleged assault, she immediately grabbed her clothes   
   and walked to the Essentia Health emergency room.   
      
   Officers located Scotland and he denied all allegations, saying he had never   
   met the victim. He was arrested and taken to the Cass County Jail with his   
   next court appearance scheduled for July 31.
