(WITN) - A Halifax County employee and her husband were       arrested on multiple charges for destroying evidence and evading law       enforcement.              The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office says just before 9 p.m. on Monday, a       Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force Agent pulled over a vehicle in the       area of West 5th Street in Roanoke Rapids for an equipment violation.              During the stop, deputies say a narcotics K9 gave deputies probable cause to       search the vehicle.              Deputies say agents found a large amount of money in the car. Deputies say the       driver, 44-year-old Travis Webb, ran away after agents found cocaine hidden on       him.              While agents and the Roanoke Rapids Police Department looked for Travis,       deputies say his wife, 47-year-old Tammy Webb, went to the area of the vehicle       stop.              By watching security footage, agents verified that the wife took $5,800 and a       cell phone from the vehicle before law enforcement returned to secure it.              Hours later, deputies say agents were watching the Webb’s home on East Third       Street when they saw them arriving back around midnight. However, the Webbs       continued driving when they saw law enforcement.              Deputies say the pair was pulled over again and both were arrested.              During her arrest, deputies say Tammy Webb told agents that she was an       employee of the Department of Social Services in Halifax, and asked agents not       to charge her for taking the items from the vehicle while they were looking       for her husband.              The two were charged with altering, destroying, or stealing evidence of       criminal conduct and resist, delay, or obstruct a law enforcement officer.              Travis Webb was given a $4,000 bond and Tammy Webb received a $3,000 bond.              While the Webb’s were in jail, police searched their Roanoke Rapids home.              Deputies say they found a stolen gun and a small amount of marijuana.              The day after the arrests, deputies say agents found the cocaine that the       husband tried to hide as he ran away. It was discovered in a yard where       officers saw him run.              Deputies say more charges are expected in the case.              https://www.witn.com/2025/01/03/halifax-county-dss-employee-husb       nd-arrested-various-charges/              --- SoupGate-DOS v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
