   CHARLOTTE — Police have charged a man with the rape and kidnapping of a   
   woman at her north Charlotte home, a day after he was released from prison for   
   sexually assaulting an 83-year-old woman in 2010.   
      
   Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Robert McFadden, 28, went into the   
   63-year-old victim’s home through a window at the Mayfield Memorial   
   Apartments on Daybreak Drive at around 9 a.m. Thursday. Officers said he then   
   sexually assaulted her. The victim    
   who was sexually assaulted in 2010 also lived at Mayfield Memorial Apartments.   
      
   After, the woman called 911 and she was taken to local hospital with non   
   life-threatening injuries. Investigators went to the hospital to speak with   
   the victim, and identified McFadden as a suspect.   
      
   The victim did not know McFadden.   
      
   Police later arrested McFadden and charged him with two counts of first-degree   
   forcible rape, two counts of first-degree sex offense, first-degree burglary,   
   larceny after breaking and entering, four counts of first-degree kidnapping,   
   four counts of    
   assault on a female, three counts of communicating threats and interfering   
   with emergency communication.   
      
   According to officers, McFadden was found guilty in 2011 for forcing his way   
   into an 83-year-old woman’s home at the same apartment complex and raping   
   her. He was released from prison Wednesday after serving his sentence.   
      
   Channel 9 interviewed the victim’s family members in 2010 after the attack.   
      
   “My mother is a fragile, little 88-pound woman, so I can just about imagine   
   the horror that she felt,” the son told Channel 9.   
      
   Officers also connected McFadden to a burglary earlier Thursday at a another   
   building on Daybreak Drive.   
      
   “I think he’s severely demented,” said Christalline Lymon, whose house   
   McFadden broke into.   
      
   Lymon, who has lived there for two years, said she was sleeping when McFadden   
   broke in, which woke her up.   
      
   “So I got up on my knees and pulled the curtain back to look at the fan and   
   I (saw) this screen being removed while being pulled away from the frame,”   
   Lymon said. “And then I saw this black arm, and I’m, like, ‘Get away   
   from my window.’”   
      
   She called the police, but McFadden had already left.   
      
   “We knew where he was,” CMPD Capt. James Wright said. “We were following   
   him, and he was within eyeshot of us. During that time, we were just   
   attempting to make the probable cause to make the arrest.”   
      
   McFadden was charged with an additional count of first-degree burglary.   
      
   McFadden was out on parole at the time of this week’s crimes. He will be   
   required to be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.
